About Springtime Rabbitry & Cavies
Kelly & Jefferey
What do we breed?
* Mini Lop (Kelly)-
The smallest breed of Lop, they are a lovely breed to own and I have a variety of colours in this breed but I am concentrating on the 'Dutch Split' at the moment.
* Mini Rex (Kelly) -
The smallest breed of rex, they are a gorgeous breed with lovely satin like fur that is soft/silky to the touch. I own a variety of colour's in this breed.
* Netherland Dwarf (Both)-
The smallest breed of rabbit, they are lovely cobby rabbits that have the most adorable expressions on there face, we own a small variety of colours in this breed.
* Belgian Hare (Kelly) -
(CURRENTLY NOT BREEDING DUE TO THE SAD LOSS OF MY DOE 10.8.13)
The closest breed to the wild hare, these are a large breed but such a beautiful one, I currently only have the 2 but they are a very loving funny breed to own.
* Plush Lop (Both)-
This is still a rare (ish) breed in the UK, the plush lop is basically a mini lop with the fur of a rex rabbit, these also come in velveteen lop which are old English lop size/breed with the rex fur. They are a gorgeous breed and we love working wit them.
* Double Maned and Teddy Lion Head (Both) -
These Lion Head are the fluffiest breed of lion head they look just like teddy bear's, gorgeous rabbits but they do need alot of grooming due to there big fluffy coats.

Springtime Cavies are a joint stud based in 2 areas of the west midlands within a 20-30 minute drive from one another, We both share a great love and passion for Rabbits and Guinea pigs as well as multiple other animals, We decided to join our 2 studs together and for springtime Rabbitry & Cavies when we realized that we help each other out a great deal anyway with either rabbits and/or guinea pigs so why not create a joint stud to carry that on.
Springtime Rabbitry & Cavies take great care of the animals we own, they are fed on a good diet of pellets, fresh hay and vegetables as well as the occasional treat of redi grass etc, They are living in suitable sized accommodation cleaned twice weekly (more if needed) with access to areas to exercise (weather permitted).
we do breed our rabbits and guinea Pigs, but we must stress they are NOT breeding machines!, our does are given lengthy breaks between litters in order for her to have time alone and get her condition back. No rabbit or Guinea is forced to mate!, if we feel she is ready to mate we will attempt the mating BUT if she behaves in a way we feel she is not interested we will separate them and try again another time.
When making the decision to mate a pair of Rabbits and/or Guinea Pigs we do thorough health checks first, this includes the weekly basics of teeth, nails and weight checks as well as any other checks we feel we should take out. We do keep records of all our rabbits and Guinea Pigs making sure we always have there information to hand if we should ever need it.
When a litter of Rabbits are born, we do not interfere too much as they are born blind and bald, we only take a quick look in the nest if the doe allows this is to ensure that there are no dead babies or un-eaten placentas in the nest that could risk the kits becoming cold and/or ill. We do a quick head count to note down and then leave her too it. We will then check daily while the dam is pre-occupied to make sure the kits are been fed etc, Kits are NOT removed from the nest untill they leave themselves when eyes are open and fully furred.
When a litter of Guinea Pigs are born, they are alot differant to when rabbits are born, they are fully furred and capable of walking eating and drinking. We will check the litter over and then leave for them to bond, we keep check daily and weigh them to make sure they are gaining weight properly and do a sex check to tell the males apart from the females.

When purchasing a rabbit, Kit or guinea pig from us there is always a none refundable deposit of £15 in order to hold the kit of choice and 50% deposit to hold a guinea pig, we refuse to hold a kit/pup without a deposit due to time wasters taking advantage. A deposit is none refundable to prevent time waster's changing there mind after due to seeing another rabbit they prefer or they simply just changed there mind, reasons that are beyond a person's control we have complete sympathy for however we have to put our foot down with deposit's due to the amount of times we and our rabbits/pigs have been let down, deposits are also none transferable onto another rabbit if you have a change of mind this is because it then makes it a refund in order to reserve another.
A rabbit is usually £35 including the none refundable £15 deposit, unless stated otherwise some breeds/colours maybe a little extra, Guinea Pigs vary. When reserving you are able to collect when 8weeks of age for a rabbit and from 6weeks for a Guinea /pig .. If not collected (unless other wise discussed before hand) within 2-4 days of been ready and we have had no contact we will have no choice but to sell the said rabbit/guinea pig onto somebody else, we do charge a holding fee of £2 per day if made to hold for longer.
All rabbits and Guinea pigs come with a change over of food, a birth certificate/ family information sheet, as well as a fact/care sheet and our details to contact us if ever needing information.
When you come to collect your new addition, you will need to sign a sheet to say that you are happy with the animal you are taking away, he/she is what you expected and of good health etc as well as you have read the sales policy.
